Today in math, students learned the difference between division by sharing, and division by grouping! To understand and practice the difference, we used manipulatives to visually solve different word problems in our table groupings. Students were asked to decide if the word problem was a sharing or grouping problem. Please ask your child to describe both types of division to you at home!
- sharing problems: the answer is how many are in each group.
- grouping problems: the answer is how many groups there are.
In language arts, we got new spelling words and completed our spelling test from last week's words. Please support your child in having them complete their spelling and return their folders each Wednesday!
In social studies, we continued the work that the students began with the substitute teacher on Monday. Students were given the question "Should cultural artifacts be put into museums?" and were asked to explore many perspectives on this topic. Students then chose a side to the topic that they agreed with most and wrote a persuasive paragraph to persuade the reader that their point of view is correct.
REMINDER: Friday is a instructional day for students!
