Today in room 14, we began our day during bellwork time with more practice with elapsed time. Students had to identify the time shown on two different clocks, and calculate the time that passed between the two times. A great activity to practice at home is reading a clock and practicing elapsed time with your student as additional practice. For example, if their piano lesson begins at 4:15pm, and it runs for 35 minutes, ask your child what time the piano practice will be over at!

In math, the grade 3 students worked in a small group with me on relating division and multiplication. The grade 4 students continued practicing two digit by 1 digit multiplication.

In literacy, students had their second last spelling test of the year! Students received their final list of new spelling words for their final test next Wednesday! Please support your child in studying for their spelling test at home!

In social studies, students began a First Nations research project on the computers! The categories they are researching include food, shelter, transportation, social roles, and clothing and climate. Following the research, students will be creating a diorama displaying their knowledge on the First Nation people and their culture.

WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF SHOEBOXES! If you have any extra shoe boxes lying around the house, or purchase a new pair of shoes, please send the box to school:)

To end the day, we mindfully worked on an art project using patterns and shapes. We are working on the skill of being mindful and focusing on only one task at once! As human, we multitask almost all day and the skill of focusing on a single task is lost! It was a very peaceful and calm time and the students really valued this time to relax and destress!

Thank you! Have a lovely evening!
