May 16th, 2023

Today was a bit of an unusual day with the poor air quality and orange skies. Students were kept inside of the building to reduce their exposure to the smoke.

For today's number talk, we read a story about a cow named Mimi who escaped her paddock! Students used their clocks to figure out the elapsed time on her adventures. Students were asked to find what time she returned back to her paddock, and the time she was missing for. The grade 4 students had their first chance at trying two digit multiplication, while the grade three students continued with single digit division.

MATH HOMEWORK: Students will be coming home with a green or pink math booklet if they are not finished. This is homework and the booklet is due back to school with all pages complete on FRIDAY, MAY 19TH.

In literacy, students began writing up their story they planned last week on a story map! When they are finished writing, we will begin peer editing and looking for ways we can improve our story hooks.

In science, we experimented with using pulleys to lift a bucket of pebbles. Students worked in groups to discover that it is easier to lift heavy objects when a pulley is used.
