Today in Room 14, we began our day finishing up some of the work from yesterday about telling time using paper clocks we crafted! Students learned how to tell time on an analog clock and discussed some activities they typically do a certain times in the day. For example. we found that most students normally eat dinner between 5:00 and 7:00pm. Today, we began learning about how to calculate elapsed time. For example, you begun watching a movie at 2:20pm, and the movie is 1 hour and 25 minutes long, students should now know how to figure out what time the movie will end at.
In language arts, students took part in Free Write Friday where they could choose any topic they wanted to write about for 20 minutes. We are working on building up our writing stamina and being able to consistently write for 20 minutes at a time.
As a calming way to end the day, the students went outside for a sit spot and recorded things they felt, smelled, saw, and heard. They also recorded their thoughts and feelings while seated in nature. With the beautiful weather, we will be going outside more often for mindful activities such as this!
I hope you have a great weekend!
