Today we began our day with a number talk! Number talks are open-ended math problems that encourage mathematical thinking and problem solving for questions that have multiple correct responses. Today the prompt was" Tell everything you know about the number 95." The students came up with so many wonderful answers. We also continued our work with multiplication to 10x10. Please support your child at home with mastering their multiplication facts.
In language arts, we continued our work with creating strong story endings. The students were given a weak/boring story ending, and were tasked with a partner to re-write the beginning to make it more exciting! We will soon be starting to create a strong and engaging beginning to our own stories.
In social studies, we looked at all the ways that the First Nation people use the bison! We learned that they did not waste any part of the bisons body, and that every part has its own purpose! We also studied the different regions of Canada and how the resources in each region would impact the way of life of the people in that region.
