Happy Valentine's Day!
This morning we learned a new addition strategy called Adding on an Open Number Line. Students caught on quite quickly and I think that many will feel this is a useful strategy for them.
We began writing a new kind of poem called an I Am Poem. Student worked through each of the sentence starters. Some are not done and will continue to work on this tomorrow.
In science, we observed our plants at their current stage in the life cycle. We are afraid that our tulips will not make it over the weekend due to a lack of light so we wanted to do all of our observations today and tomorrow.
This afternoon, we had some free time to celebrate Valentine's Day! Students passed out their Valentines, played games and watched videos on the Smartboard. If they had a special snack, they got to eat that as well.
