February 13th 2023

We had a VERY busy day of learning today! It is a very short week so we are trying to make the most of every minute!

In science, we wrote about the tinfoil shadows that we created last week. We answered many questions including: description of shadow that was created, direction shadow pointed, what time of day it must have been based on the shadow that was formed, etc. This was a great opportunity for students to share everything they know about shadows.

In math, we learned to add using the expanded form of numbers. Students are invited to use this strategy if they feel that it is useful for them, but if they find the standard algorithm to be more useful, they are encouraged to use that instead.

We created our Valentines pockets today for collecting cards tomorrow. See a picture of what we made below.

Have a great evening!

Valentines day is on Tuesday, February 14th 2023. Students are invited to bring Valentines to share with the class. There are 24 students in our class. If students are bringing Valentines, there needs to be one for every student. If students wish to attach candies to their Valentines, they are welcome to do so, however all candy is to be brought home and only eaten with parents permission. Students are encouraged to bring a special treat for themselves to have in the afternoon on Valentines day to celebrate. Please still send a regular morning snack and lunch.
