ORANGE SHIRT DAY IS TOMORROW. STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR SOMETHING ORANGE TO SCHOOL IN SUPPORT OF TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION INITIATIVES.
We are starting to get into the swing of things here in grade 3/4!
Today in language arts we worked on our good copies (or finishing up our rough copies) of our writing on why Orange Shirt Day is important. Students had very thoughtful responses based on what they have learned so far.
We also watched some more stories regarding how children got their names. I told students about how my brothers and I all got our middle names. You can ask them!
In math, we worked on reading large numbers up to the hundreds thousands place. Many students were struggling to read these very large numbers properly but are are already improving with some direct lessons! We also learned a little bit about writing numbers in word form and will continue to work on that skill into next week.
In science, we learned a little bit about plant roots. Ms. Nicolaou was kind enough to bring carrots and beets from her garden so we could examine their roots. We wanted to do it before the frost hits!
Tomorrow is our first fun lunch of the year. If you have signed your child up, please still send them to school with a snack to sustain them throughout the morning.
